The 2023 edition of the Keeneland September Sale begins on Monday, September 11.

Keeneland’s September Yearling Sale is the global marketplace for Thoroughbred yearlings and is the world’s most important Thoroughbred sale. The September Sale stands apart from all other auctions owing to several factors: a critical mass of quality yearlings at all levels of the market, the largest and most diverse buying bench in the world and the proven success of its sales graduates at the highest levels of racing worldwide.

Keeneland’s 2023 Spring Race Meet opens Friday, April 7, and continues through Friday, April 28. No racing will be held on Mondays or Tuesdays, or Easter Sunday, April 9.

Highlights of the Spring Meet include the $1 million Toyota Blue Grass (G1) on opening Saturday, and $600,000 Central Bank Ashland (G1) on opening Friday. The races are worth a total of 170 points each on the Road to the Kentucky Derby (G1) and Road to the Kentucky Oaks (G1), respectively.

Take a stroll around Keeneland’s stable area, commonly known as the ‘backstretch’ on this unique tour. You’ll see activities that occur every day on the backstretch, from a racehorse being bathed and walked to a horse receiving new shoes. The tour will also make stops at the main track and training track to watch morning training, as well as the racing office and Sales Pavilion, when available.

This curated collection of local bars and restaurants were created to complement a day of touring distilleries. Staff at each of the stops have a wide knowledge of whiskies, some of the city’s largest collections of Bourbon and in most cases even Bourbon-infused cuisine.

From our Kentucky limestone filtered water and grains to the heritage yeast that Jim Beam himself drove to and from the distillery for safe keeping, we’ll take you behind the barrel of your favorite bourbons. This tour takes you through the hardest working still in America where Jim Beam®, Basil Hayden®, and Legent® are made. We’ll even walk the Knob Creek® bottling line where you can hand pick and purchase a Single Barrel bottle and customize the label for yourself.

The Buffalo ‘Trace’ Tour is an incredible introduction to the history and science of bourbon at Buffalo Trace Distillery. You will walk amidst the path of rolling bourbon barrels. You will be captivated by the alluring smell and atmosphere of bourbon sleeping inside the aging warehouses. Our engaging tour guides can teach guests of all levels and will bring the story of Buffalo Trace to life.

Join us for The Maker’s Mark Tour that will teach you about our history and how we make our bourbon. This tour is mostly outdoors (so dress weather appropriate), and consists of about 1/2 mile of walking. This tour will take you through our campus and a few of the production buildings. Of course, you’ll finish with a guided tasting. This tour will last approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Don’t have time for a Full Bourbon Tour? Experience the Woodford Reserve Bourbon Tour and taste the full Family of Brands! This experience is a 30 minute guided tasting with five samples of our award-winning Family of Brands. With over 200 flavor notes to discover, every sip of Woodford Reserve is a spectacle of the senses. How many can you find?

Windstar’s unique private experience takes a tour of some of the many different aspects of the industry WinStar is involved in, starting at our stallion complex, guests will have the opportunity to meet the stallions, learn about breeding, how these horses earned their way into our stallion barn and even get to give a stallion a peppermint. Guests will then get to tour some of our other divisions, they will have the chance to see mares, foals, stallions, yearlings, and racehorses depending on the season.

Every year, hundreds of people come to the Bluegrass to visit a landmark known primarily only to horse people: Secretariat’s grave at Claiborne Farm in Paris, just outside Lexington. Claiborne is the Fenway Park of Kentucky horse farms, one of the oldest and most respected operations. In existence since 1910, Claiborne has bred, raised and sired some of the most important thoroughbreds in history.

Calumet Farm, which in its glory days was the most successful thoroughbred operation in history, with two Triple Crown winners, and numerous other horses who won the Kentucky Derby and other major races. In addition to being the Steelers/Celtics/Canadiens/Yankees of the thoroughbred world, Calumet also had iconic buildings painted in white and red trim that are known throughout the world to racing fans.
